Line Drawing Program; Qfig
Finally a new VB2010 version is now available. The new one extends the old version including, for example, shading without outline, inscribed/ circumscribed polygons and PostScript output.
The previous old versions can be downloaded here, and can be used on off-line XP machines as just I do in my house. The old Windows (XP) program (zip) allows users to draw lines and curves on screen and to convert them into LATEX file. If you do not have Visual BASIC v.4 Libraries, then this archive with library (zip) may be helpful. The converted types of files are either PiCTEX, eepic.sty, its expansion with eepicsup.sty or curves.sty. Please read (or ask your Japanese friend to translate) its manual (in Japanese). You can see an example.
If you want to use Qfig within DOS window on DOS-V machine, this version can be used. This file is self-extracting archive file, so that running it directly creates programs and documents. Its revised version in February in 1997 can be found in this archive file. (zip) To use these programs, `Num-Lock' must be released on the keyboard.Contents Previous Next
Convert Ngraph Data into LaTeX
If you draw figures using Ngraph, the data can be converted into LATEX file by this program. Oops! The above version is for PC98 (Japanese typical PC) and cannot be used on DOS-V machines. For Windows system, VB2010 version of Gra2Eepic can be used.
On a DOS-V machines, this version (zip) will work in DOS window. But it must be executed only in us mode. If you are using a free-version Ngraph on DOS-V machines, it may be helpful.
Ngraph for Windows (shareware) can be found somewhere. The corresponding converter is also found in this page in Japanese.Contents Previous Next
Convert Text Data into tabular environment
If you want to convert, say, CSV file created by spread sheet softwares into LATEX file, the simplest way is to use replace function or macros in the editors you are using. But this program convert text (for example, CSV) file into LATEX file with tabular environment.Contents Previous Next
X-bitmap Pattern Editor
If you are living in Japan, you have ever experienced some difficulties in writing special KANJI characters which are not registered in the ROM of computers. This style file xbmkanji.sty converts simple text pattern file or X-bitmap file into one font within LATEX file. So this program assists you to make such an X-bitmap file by cut and paste, and edition on screen. Although it is for DOS system on Japanese PC, some MS mouse driver is necessary. You may use a free mouse driver, msz.
Windows version is now available.
Windows (before Win7) version (zip) is now available.Contents Previous Next
Reference Maintenance
This program maintains a reference database and converts its data into LATEX style such as BibTeX and bibliography environment. It is a Windows version.Contents Previous Next
Flow Chart
In drawing flow charts for LATEX documents, this program (zip) is very useful. It is a C source file that creats executable files on almost all the platforms such as IBM-PC, PC98 and UNIX.Contents Previous Next
Convert LaTeX File into Plain Text File
The LATEX source file (not a dvi file) can be converted into a text file by using the text formatter XTR and the table-making program TBL. This file of replacement pattern file is used for such a conversion.
The main program XTR is a text formatter and the program TBL is a table maker.Contents Previous Next
Calculator
It is executable only on the Japanese PC98. It even calculates zeros of functions and the Bessel functions. This program also draws quasi-3-D plot of functions, and the figure is converted and saved into a LATEX file with eepic.sty style file.Contents Previous Next
Quasi-Three-D Drawing
This is also executable only on PC98 but it outputs some kind of 3-D plot of a function f=f(x,y). This program can handle tabulated data and can convert the figure into a LATEX file with eepic.sty style file.Contents Previous Next
Other Softwares
Many programs are found all over the world.Contents Previous Next
Related Style Files
Let's enumerate some style files related to the above softwares.
epic.sty extends picture environment for more freedom of drawing pictures within LATEX documents. Original style file may have a bug. If you have some difficulty in using it, please replace the style file by this version.
eepic.sty extends epic.sty functions further using TPIC codes. It then draws almost any kinds of pictures but the output is dviware dependent. The dviwares must understand the command of TPIC when printing and previewing. Original style file may have a bug. If you have some difficulty in using it, please replace the style file by this version.
eepicsup.sty modifies eepic.sty function so that the extended TPIC commands employed in the most populare dviware on PC in Japan, dviout/prt, can be used in the documents. Extended part is for example setting of shading pattern. This supplemental style file will handle such codes.
curves.sty is a very handy style file to draw almost any kinds of pictures within the ability of the original TEX. This optional style file does it all for you. Goot part of this is that the output file becomes device/dviware independent.
xbmkanji.sty converts a text file with pattern defined by two symbols - and # into a font file of one character. It also handles X-bitmap file and another kind of standard KANJI files. This style file is probably necessary for almost all the users of LATEX in Japan.Contents Previous
